I can’t believe that I have lived in oblivion all my life!
Why didn’t I figure this out for so long now?
Hello Photizolife reader, you are super welcome!
I have some interesting news for you! Please sit back and hear me on this.
Few days ago, I took a personality test. This is not the first time I’m being exposed to one, but there was just something a little bit different about this particular one.
After going through the strengths and the weaknesses of the several personalities; I noticed a set of individuals whose weakness included the fear of rejection and the fear of making a mistake.
For a while, I was drawn to this, because to a very great extent I know what the fear of making a mistake feels like.
All my life, ( it’s not plenty though, Lol) I always thought that it was a good thing to always avoid risks and mistakes. I even prided myself in it. You see how ignorant I was.
It’s still hard to believe that I have been making a mistake all my life by trying to run from making one. Please read that line again.
With further reflection, I realized that this seemingly “interesting and reasonable” fear is actually holding a good number of us from breaking out.
So, you want to start a new thing but because you are scared of making even the tiniest of the mistakes, you sit back and do nothing instead of trying out first to see how it goes.
As I continued to ruminate on this, the story of Peter and John with the crippled Beggar flashed my mind.
If you can remember your bible stories, you should know this one.
Apparently, this was the very first public healing of peter.
It happened that Peter and John were about to go into the temple; they met a man who was lame from birth, laid at the gate of the temple, called Beautiful.
This man asked for alms, but peter and John had no substantial material wealth to offer him.
Peter said “Look on us…silver and gold have I none, but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.”
Remember, this was the first time the bible ever recorded Peter performing a public miracle after the ascension of Christ.
PC; Seed of faith
Now, let’s imagine if Peter was held back by the fear of making a mistake.
Moreover, he was a “novice”, he never tried it before, at least not in the open.
Peter wasn’t scared of the “What if”, he wasn’t scared of making a mistake either.
Actually, he reached out and pulled the lame man up, probably the man was doubting if he could actually stand up and walk just like that.
Peter understood well that there was power inside him and peradventure, the man didn’t walk, that doesn’t negate the Fact that there was power inside him.
See Dear, You are not your mistake(s), So even if you try and make one or two mistakes, that still doesn’t change who you are.
You my dear are a work in progress and you see that “I can never afford to make a mistake mentality“, it’s a trap.
Trust me, I thought for a very long time that it was safe and secure to run from making a mistake or from taking some ” risks”. I have come to realize that it’s all a lie.
You are free to take God-calculated risks. ‘Godculated risks”
Hahahaha!! See me coining words!
The “risk” can be a step of faith.
Stop focusing on the “What if it doesn’t turn out well” and start to imagine how happy you would feel if it actually turns out well.
You have spent enough time, imagining the little things that can go wrong, but please, also consider the numerous things that can go right.
Disclaimer; This is not to encourage you to do anything illegitimate, because everything will so go wrong if you do that thing. Lol!
I’m seeing the future and telling you now!
Please, I’m referring to all the real tangible and impact full visions you have been nursing.
I really hope that when we come back from our break soon, many of us will share our experience(s) of dealing with this fear of making a mistake.
A good number of people are sad about this break. Please forgive me, because this one is necessary.
